premature end

welp, looks like this little blog is coming to an end. the reason? mainly because this whole thing was taxx's idea but i'm the only one that actually ever posts to this thing. i don't even think taxx knows how to even find this blog to read it, much less add a post. the one post he has on here is from the first couple of days where i was teaching him how to do it.

anyway, we haven't really been playing madden lately... once taxx's wife prohibited the obedient taxx from betting on madden, it just hasn't been the same.

plus, now we're playing Winning Eleven 9... a soccer game... we both started playing this at the same time so we're about even in skill, for now.

so, this is probably the last post here for a while... sorry to the two of you that check here occasionally, blame it on taxx.

a shutout!

woohoo! i finally got my shutout on taxx. i don't know why he picked the chargers and was even more baffled when he opted to throw rather than run the ball throughout the first half. he's got BLT (baby LT) and never ran him in the first half!! he didn't start running the ball until the second half and while it was more successful, it was too late. running it in the second half took up too much time and he made a few mistakes that prevented him from scoring. i got the W and the shutout. dope.

A near comeback...

i started this game (as the steelers) by leading 8-0 but somehow i lost control and fell behind to 8-33. by halftime, i was only able to add a field goal to my measly score... all hope seemed lost. in the second half, i was able to rally and bring the game to 34-39... but alas, i was unable to score the last touchdown, though i had the opportunity to. props to taxx for his D on the final drive. this sucks for my stats.

a couple wins for spam, now with video

yay! three games were played today with yours truly taking the first two in resounding fashion. the third game was set to two-minute quarters due to time constraints and was settled in overtime with taxx getting a td in the final seconds.

here are videos of a few of my beautifully executed plays. the first four vids are from the first game where i decided to pick the steelers again to ensure an end to my losing streak. the fifth vid is from the 2nd game where i kicked the bejeebeez out of taxx with his favorite team. what the hell is going on?!?

ok, as taxx mentioned so humbly below, he nearly shut me out in the first game yesterday. i decided to pick the 49ers because that's his team and i thought it would be fun to shut him out with them. but alas, he picked my team, the steelers, and nearly shut me out instead.

the only explanation (not excuse!) is that since i was so used to playing the steelers, i was having trouble on defense when taxx would pass the ball. a bunch of times, i would switch players to defend the pass but instinctively think that i was the guy in the black and yellow. that was the cause of many caught passes by my less-skilled opponent.

anyway, check the two screens of my last second (literally!) heroics to prevent a shutout. with the clock winding down, i was desperate to prevent a shutout... check out the time on the clock and note that i'm on the steeler 43, which would mean a 60 yard field goal, unlikely. then note the beautiful catch in the end zone.

well, that was a nice play and all, but i still lost the frickin' game. but things were about to get worse...

i wanted to pick the same teams for the second match to show taxx it was a fluke. it wasn't. he shut me out thanks to a bunch of impossible interceptions and turnovers. that made his night. bah! i'm done here, here are the stats for the two games.
